Taking Care of YOU -Lobby Day encouragement

Dear advocates and friends,

We are so excited to see you soon on Capitol Hill!

Whether you are coming for both the MOM "Mothers & Others" March AND ‪#‎EDCNationalLobbyDay‬, or coming to DC for one or the other, we are honored that you are sharing of your time with us.

To help ensure you have the best time possible in DC, we highly encourage you to read the below blog and information prior to coming to DC (link to blog is below info).

a. We want to remind everyone that the people who will attend the MOM March and Lobby Day are all impacted by eating disorders in some way, shape or form. Therefore, we encourage you to prepare yourself that you will likely meet people in various stages of their journey.  If you have 'triggers' in this regard, we encourage you to do whatever you need to do in order to keep your triggers at bay.  Perhaps it might help for you to remember some mantras:
1. I am unique and not comparable to anyone else
2. I am beautiful because I am alive!
3. My journey is my journey and I am committed to my health
4. My story matters and it is enough

b. We want to remind you that you are responsible for your health and well-being while in DC. Please do whatever you need to do in order to take the best care possible of yourself while you are in DC.

c. If you are someone in recovery, please consider what might be helpful to you if you find yourself struggling while in DC. ie: do you have a support-person you can text or call? do you and your treatment team have DBT tools you can practice? do you have a recovery app that can help you stay the course? DO WHATEVER YOU NEED TO DO IN ORDER TO BE HEALTHY.

d. Take very good care of yourself as you prepare to travel and know we all look forward to seeing you and advocating with you soon!
